How should solar-array tilt be chosen for snow and wind loads?

DOE notes that a steeper tilt can help shed snow, but it can also increase wind load on the array. It advises weighing winter-weather and high-wind conditions together in the project design and using properly rated racking that meets applicable wind-load standards such as ASCE/SEI 7-22. Select the tilt and mounting arrangement for the site conditions rather than treating one angle as universal.
