Why must solar module clamps stay within approved clamping zones?

Before installation, check the exact module manual and mounting-system drawing for the permitted clamp positions and mounting method. A clamp that physically fits the frame is not, by itself, evidence that its position is approved. For example, Canadian Solar's module manual lists authorized clamp-position ranges for the module models it covers and directs installers to follow the mounting-system supplier's guidance. DOE/FEMP notes that critical fastened joints support PV-system structural integrity and that their failure can create safety hazards. Do not transfer clamp locations or load assumptions from another module; follow the documents for the specific project.
